Angel Tree

Maybe you've heard of this ministry before, I've heard of it as "Angel Tree" or "Mercy Tree". The concept is the same, this particular ministry focuses on blessing and touching the lives of children with incarcerated parents this Christmas.
I've been involved as a director for Angel Tree the past 3 or 4 years. I wasn't able to carry that on this year, but as a family we still found a child to sponsor at our now, home church (Calvary Chapel Boise).
You can't imagine the blessing this provides to parents or guardians who aren't expecting much of a Christmas for their children. This year, we bought a gift for a little 3 year old girl who wanted dress-up clothes. Emma and I went and shopped for her and I had the neat opportunity of explaining to Emma what a privilege this was for us. She truly grasped the concept and really went to town, that little 3 year old would have had 10 gift bags full if Emma had been given full reins. : )
Most churches also have the option of being a delivery family. If you every get this chance, TAKE IT! Believe me, handing a stranger a tower of gifts from a local church will leave more than one person in tears.
So, if you're having trouble getting into the holiday spirit, I encourage you and your family to reach out to another family and show the love of Jesus to a child this year.

This is a good reminder! I am so excited for when we can do these things with our kids (and have them understand). I just wrote a letter to our compassion kid today and thought to myself how nice it will be when Marshall can participate!
P.S. I like your family picture too! It turned out great! Gosh it was hard to get ours this year, someone is always not looking at the camera or picking their nose or something! :-)
