At home....

"I have seen kids dismantle one another,

while parents and teachers passively stood by

and observed the "socialization" process....

Dozens of investigations have demonstrated, at

least to my satisfaction, the error of the notion

that children must be exposed to other children

in order to be properly socialized.

I just don't believe it.

In fact, the opposite is true.

They need the security and love of parental

protection and guidance until their self-concepts are

more stabilized and established."

Dr. James C. Dobson 1987

I found this quote and thought it was quite good. It amazes me how many of my peers have this worry for their children, that home schooling will somehow lead to their being "socially inept".

Good grief, is that truly what tops our list of concerns for our children??

I AM thankful for the wonderful teachers that ARE teaching in the public schools such as my family back in MN and SD and here in ID! :) And will be even MORE thankful for those kind of teachers as my daughters grow older and most likely leave home for school.

Home Schooling is absolutely NOT the end all say all for every situation. In fact, I'm fairly sure that Emma will probably join a Christian school somewhere along the way. But we are so thankful to have the freedom to homeschool our daughters for now, and as long as the Lord leads us to do so.
