December 1st
Christmas lights.
As a child: "Ooo, Ahh, Thanks for the Christmas house Dad!"
As an adult: "Oo, those are expensive.... our electricity bill was HOW much?...I can't feel my hands, I've been stringing trees for 3 hours." And then your kids see the lights and you forget everything else.
In my family, it was a tradition on Christmas Eve, after the Candlelight Christmas Eve Service, we'd all come home and be allowed to open one gift each (that became a known "jammie" gift later on). We'd gather goodies off the kitchen counters (every year there was fudge, oh man was it good), slip into our pjs, grab some hot chocolate and we were off in our stylish minivan to take a quick tour of our town's Christmas lights.
A favorite Christmas memory for me.
Fast-forward 20 years.
Now I have 3 of my own kids, and I still love lights! I could hardly wait to see their faces when our own came on. They didn't disappoint, they were so excited and thankful!
We wanted to do so much more this year with our outdoor lights, but thanks to this beautiful new home we're still marveling at, there is now a LOT of fence line and a LOT of trees to cover! We'll have to stock up on after-Christmas sales for the next few years. Andy still outdid himself considering how busy he's been with the clinic, our church's men's group and the online college classes he's still taking.
Christmas lights are just plain festive!
I wish we'd been prepared enough to pull this stunt off in time, next year for sure!!!

The lights turned out beautifully! On the last picture, you have to wonder who took that while letting the man hang there. :)
