My New Year's Eve has been spent playing "Whack-A-Mole", Candyland and reading Amelia Bedelia books. The girls and I made a bean dip and peach cobbler because as Emma puts it,
"It's a holiday mom!"
Honestly? Probably one of my favorites to date!
We spent 18 grueling hours traveling yesterday to wing our way from Western Idaho back to snowy Watertown. Our largest delay was an almost 2 1/2 hour wait while our plane was parked at the gate in Salt Lake. We were waiting for our chance to de-ice the plane. I was feeling horrible for all the moms of babies on board, to expect a 2 hour flight is one thing, then for that flight to become 4 1/2 hours is any sensitive mom's nightmare.
Emma's comments on the plane kept us and everyone within ear shot in good spirits. We'd been sitting there at least 30 minutes when she looked out the window for the first time and said "Yep, we are definitely NOT moving." (she'd just noticed)
We'd planned to be arriving at home around 1am, that turned into 5am. Andy and I slept till about 10am this morning, but I won't be shocked if we got to bed when he gets home from work and let this year ring itself in.
Since my little girls are tucked in for the night, my 'festive' food is ready for Andy to get home, and my home is in as much order as I had energy for, I shall now catch up on some much over-due blogging!
Happy New Year!
