Here's the run-down.
She loved them. That makes me happy.
Her report card boasted:
"Emma did a fabulous job! She was an excellent listener and never complained!"
We gave her high praise for those words of encouragement too.
The flip-side. She hates going under water. LOVES water, but really, truly hates being submerged. Hmmm.
So, we ended this 2nd year with Emma knowing her strokes beautifully, but only using them from the side of the pool, or timidly from a teacher's hold on her tummy.
At first this really bothered me. Then my wise, was-a-life-guard husband (over the phone from SF) reminded me that she's got the desire for water, and the coordination to know her strokes, she just lacks the confidence to be "ready". Something you shouldn't push. So I relaxed and tried not to make her any more nervous. She DID bobs under water and was rewarded with a slushy. (and one for little sis who was patient during lessons)
For the rest of the summer, we'll enjoy family swim time and wait for this little fish to know that's what she is.
Reminds me of another little girl I knew......
