Happy Mother's Day

I wish I had thought about writing a Mother's Day blog before 8am this morning, but while I'm waiting for Andy and the girls to finish making roll up pancakes, I'm thinking about my mom.
The older I get, the more common it has become to be confused for my mom. (especially from the back) We've been asked if we're sisters (from elderly Minnesota ladies :)) and the most common of all comments is "Oh, you look SO much like your mom."
That is a huge compliment to me. What I would love to hear added to those words is "You ARE so much like your mom." Most people have role-models, people they look to and try to immitate, it took me until my adult years to realize what an amazingly thing it is that that person for me, was with me from birth. Mom found her role as wife, mother, home school teacher, pastor's wife, confidant, mentor, piano teacher etc. etc. so complete and joyful in Christ that she made it simple for me to want those same things in my life. My mother portrayed to me that being a mom, was the largest blessing in her life apart from her marriage and we knew she meant it, it showed in love.
Now that I have my own daughters, I couldn't enjoy her presence more in my life or my daughters as "Grandma Sue", but that's not what I call her, my name for her doesn't have to be spoken, it's just known, my best friend.
