As we begin our next phase of life as a family of 5 here in Idaho, I'm getting ready starting Monday to jump back into full-time studies with Emma & Liv. (We've only been keeping up on math, handwriting, a weather study and reading over this gradual move).
As we've been driving around, I'm starting to think of possible field trips, new hands-on experiences we can go discover.
Emma gave me HER idea for a field trip during our last trip to downtown Boise:
"Mom, I'd love to go through the capitol building!"
Oh boy, way to start at the top baby girl! I guess I have some phone calls to make. :)
"Homeschooling" for me this year includes beginning to teach my daughters how to keep a home peaceful (not perfect). They're adding a few light new chores to their daily routine. Daddy stepped in a few nights ago and helped me show the girls why we ask for hard-working attitudes and diligence...He explained how someday they'll have their own jobs, their own homes and what they'll need to know as adults.
I'm also really looking forward to adding a new aspect to our flexible schedule, and that would be an opportunity for Emma to get out and serve others during the week. I'll be looking for a retirement/nursing facility that she can help at in some way. When Aaron and I were young, we'd go once a week and help the elderly bowl by setting up their pins over and over for an hour. It's exactly the type of foundation we want to give our kids, to think of others before themselves, to know the joy that comes from blessing others with your gifts, especially as the world's message of "Put yourself first" gets louder and louder in their young ears.
