...you might want to think twice, or prepare to be embarrassed.
I think our church is large enough (in the 1,000s) that I can safely tell this story.
Sunday, as is our normal routine, Andy and I part ways to drop our kids off in their Sunday school rooms. Emma is in the "big kids" building while Liv and Liam are together in the preschool building. Our church has a large campus so we make it to the sanctuary at different times.
Last week, I made it first so I chose our seats...toward the front...less distractions for me. :)
I hadn't been seated (alone) for more than 1 1/2 minutes before I heard a man ask an older gal sitting a few seats down if anyone was taking the places beside her because he was 'hoping to sit there'....Next thing I know, a nice, tall, smiling man came up and started to take off his coat while standing right next to me. I looked up and smiled, he quickly opened his mouth to say
"I may not be much to look at, but I'll win ya over with my personality!"
I couldn't help it, I laughed....hard.
He was there with his young daughter, perhaps 7 or 8 years old. I mumbled an "Ok" and was just starting to consider if he was just being humorous or was in fact, perhaps 'making a cool move on a Sunday morning'.
I didn't have much time to wonder,
Andy made it to our seats just about then and the service began.
I got my answer about 2 songs into worship when I opened my eyes just in time to see "Mr. Nice Tall Man" gently, quietly, shifting his daughter over and switching seats with her so that she and I were next to each other intead. Ha.
Poor Mr. Nice Tall Man. Hope next Sunday is less embarrassing!
