1. Emma Lou is making progress with antibiotics after finally discovering she has bronchitis and possible child-hood asthma. (more on that later) She and I ended up spending the entire morning together between the doctor's office and the pharmacy (always a pleasant wait).
It ended up being a wonderful thing! I don't remember the last time I had hours at a time to just talk to her and boy did we talk! Of course I can't just talk to her about what she did yesterday, or what her favorite school subject is....No, she's of course processing huge life decisions such as...."Mom! Paleontologist or nurse...HOW do I decide??" (That, while we're waiting for the doctor to come in)
2. While we're talking about Emma...she had a "first" tonight. While we were at Tim's basketball game, she and a little BOY buddy of hers (that she met through HER basketball program) came up to me and wanted to know if he could take Emma to the concessions stand and buy her a bag of chips.
I couldn't help it...my lips split wide open and I was awkwardly smiling and staring at both of them. At first it hit me as over-the-moon cute. Then just as quickly I realized that it was MY 6 yr old with the pleading eyes...and who was this 8 yr old boy next to her asking her on a date??? Ok, so maybe I possibly flashed a bit into the future.
After mumbling that 'I suppose that's alright'..they ran off faster than light and my fears were confirmed when my Dad leaned back and said "Sounds like a date to me!"
Any new developments in anti-aging for kids?? Anyone??
3. Liam's vocal world is exploding. He jabbers while I teach Emma in the mornings and every time I open my mouth to speak, he takes that as his cue to do the same. It would be hilarious if it wasn't so distracting. Ok, it's still hilarious.
4. Our Super Daddy is in a whirlwind of classes, papers due, job shadowing this week, tying up loose ends with his grocery store position and of course counting the long days just as we are to get to February 12th as quickly as possible. We're so blessed by those of you that are praying for all of us. It truly is holding us together.
5. This will begin by sounding quite strange, but after a few weeks worth of late nights, listening to my 13 yr old brother make sounds of death or worse from his bedroom, I'm intrigued to try out his intense exercises that make him sound as though he's attempting to touch his toes with his tongue while standing....(I don't know, it just came to me...moving on) Apparently tonight, I'll be trying "The Plank". It looks terrible, it sounds terrible and both Tim and Alyssa look like they need IVs once they finish so it must be effective. Oh dear. Getting old is no fun. I'm acutely aware that my days in the "20-somethings" are numbered.
Andrew, I hope you read this tonight and are duely impressed with me. ;)
