At a Loss

This post will lack any eloquence.
I'm pass cute phrases on this issue.
I'm ready for answers.

Today has been really rough.
Olivia woke up twice during the night in crying pain from her leg(s).
Today, she's been awake for 9 hours and has not taken ONE step.

Not only that, she has yet to even fully extend her legs, she keeps them curled underneath her.

I don't need more ideas to sooth away the pain, I have Andy for that. I know I need to keep the circulation going, massage toward the heart, she's on Tylenol and we have several methods to calm. I've been on the internet, read multiple medical articles....Nothing completely adds up yet.

What I NEED is answers.

This issue is 2 months old. There are good days and bad days. This is not a dull ache, when it comes, it's severe and sharp. The slightest movement in the wrong direction brings fresh tears and a new fearful resolve on her part to NOT move.

We've had her blood work taken, and x-rays have been done, to no avail yet. We've ruled out bone cancer, her being anemic and similar "life-altering" scenarios. We want a radiologist to look at those x-rays closely and consider her growth plates....

We've considered childhood arthritis, still not ruled out.
We've considered severe growing pains, not ruled out either. Although this is on the extreme side of ANY growing pains stories I've read either online or heard in person. Another thought from our Dr. is a deep tissue issue which wouldn't be found without further probing, possibly a bone scan which we're trying to put off if possible.

My tough 3 year old is reduced to being non-mobile and I don't know why.

She's faithfully on multi-vitamins and loves bananas so the potassium is flowing (although we are looking into boosting that).

This tired, emotionally drained mom will welcome ANY suggestions or comments.

Thanks you guys.
Who else is glad these bodies are not eternal?!

So sorry to hear this Nellie. I didn't know it was getting worse. We will be praying for Livy! One thought about specialists - since I have run the gamut looking for answers about my lupus - I would highly recommend taking her to see an experienced rheumatologist. Do you guys have a children's hospital nearby? Some teaching hospitals will even see kids at no cost and their level of care is good. An orthopedist will have more of a mechanical approach to diagnosis... but there are SO many problems with the joints and tissues that can originate from autoimmune or viral causes, not just mechanical. A rheum. knows so many tests and disorders that a regular doc sometimes has never even heard of. I didn't get good answers or solutions for my lupus until I saw the rheumatologist I am with now. He knew exactly what kind of blood panels to run on me and took every piece of info I gave him very seriously. (I saw one before him that was worthless, she didn't care beans about finding out what was going on). Don't let any doctor dismiss your concerns!
