A Devotional

Psalms 5:3 (NIV)
In the morning, O LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.

God takes great pleasure in having a soul come to Him simply, plainly and intimately. This kind of Christianity doesn't draw big crowds. It draws only those who have their hearts set on God—who want God more than they want anything else in the world.

These people are not vastly numerous in any given church or area. This kind of Christianity doesn't draw big crowds, but it is likely to draw the hungriest ones. And so God takes great pleasure in having people come to Him, simply and plainly and intimately. He wants us to come as simply and as plainly as a little child.

—A.W. Tozer on the Almighty God (edited)

Have you ever thought about the idea of coming to the Lord as a little child? How does a child come to you? Usually it's very simply. A small child comes when they're called, not even stopping to ask why. To be called is enough. And there is an innocence and lack of guile to their coming. That is how God would have us come to Him. "Lord teach me to come to You with a child-like heart."
