My wonderful husband had planned with me for a few weeks now, that this would be my day to get away.
I left early and found a quiet coffee shop called Brownstone. I had brought my Bibles, journal, computer and headphones. Not sure why but I dressed up to go out....It just made me feel like it was purposeful. I sat with my Peppermint Latte on their little couch in the back corner and enjoyed almost 3 hours of uninterrupted study time.
Glorious.
Then my rear got tired from all the sitting and I went shopping. Old Navy had 50% clearance, and you know me, bargains call my name. Emma needed socks for Fall.
Andy on the other hand, spent the day with our 2 blondies. And I came home to the largest, most extravagant indoor fort you can imagine. I am sure every blanket and cushion we owned was used in the construction, and as I was guided on a tour, I noticed flashlights hanging to serve as lights and veggie tale creatures were shoved in each and every nook and cranny as Emma explained that they were "peering" on us.

No, I didn't come home to clean dishes, or folded laundry. (which Andy has done many times in the past mind you) But my girls had their little love tanks overflowing thanks to their Daddy who had devoted the day to them. Emma was able to mark off 45 minutes of reading on her reading schedule thanks to a very fun fort to read it, Livy had wore herself out on a hour long game of hide and seek surrounding the "fort", and I had been reminded to just enjoy the day.
Yes, I want to keep my house in order. But will I look back and scold myself for the days the floors weren't scrubbed, or will I lament the days I didn't build a fort while my girls were young.....Young enough to yearn for my attention.
