Andy took the girls for me tonight.
It was brutal weather today with the combo of humidity and heat. Perfect evening for a swim at the water park. My pleading eyes told Andy that I needed a break, alone time to gather my thoughts for this coming school year.
I was able to do just that! Before my three drowned rats returned home,
I planned week #1 all the way through, finished school-season chore charts, and I'm well on my way to learning a language arts program that is quite thorough and intense! I love it though, there are many good readers, that does not mean they are all good spellers
(as Facebook so daily reminds us).
My goal is to give Emma the tools she needs to become both a good reader AND a good speller. Most kids CAN learn to read by memorization, but that doesn't help them in analytical thinking or as they progress into higher levels of education. Prayerfully, very humbly as I know my major limitations, I'm diving into this and praying the Lord opens her little mind. We followed this program last year for Kindergarten and it went really well.
Now, with my projects set aside, I plan to lay my tired back in bed and watch a movie with my sweet husband who starts school again on Tuesday. We're trying to enjoy our last few days of lazy freedom.
