Orange Pop Test- Accomplished

Had to do that icky test for the first time today.
(testing for gestational diabetes & anemia)

Instructions:
Have ill-tempered nurse stand next to you while you're commanded to drink an entire bottle of fizzy, super sweet orange pop type drink. (5 min limit)
Took me maybe 30 seconds, I wanted it OVER and DONE.

Wait 1 hour.
(While waiting, it helps to have a picture of cars on the wall that your 5 yr old can count. 100 cars.)

Come back into lab and have the above said ill-mannered nurse (who was a student) finally TELL me she was a student and would it be alright if she drew my blood. How could I say no...my own husband is a pta student, and all his patients were extremely....patient. :)

At least HE has good people skills!

Took grouchy nurse a loooooong time to find a good vein, tried both arms.
Blood draw. Must not flinch, my 5 yr old is watching intently. Isn't bothered a stitch by needles, this is what she wants to do when she grows up.

Wait.

No phone call today! That means I passed on both accounts. Yay!

Thus ends my experience with The Orange Pop Test.
88 days to go!
