The hunt is afoot!
I'm looking to find an excellent cake recipe that is dense enough to hold up under butter cream frosting AND fondant. I don't mind trying 3 or 4, this is my practice time.
I've worked with pound cake, which I like in and of itself but usually they are very rich cakes and for this next mission I really need a recipe that's delicious but not killer rich.
My fondant is very close to a jet black color thanks to cocoa powder so a chocolate cake base would go well.
I KNOW how time consuming it is to pass along a recipe, so a huge thank-you in advance to anyone who has something to share! I think my next "save-up-for" goal will be to find myself a really, really good cake book. I've been told "The Cake Bible" is where it's at. ;)
