What an amazing night.
The decor was beautiful, the food was amazing (mine, lemon dill salmon!) and the
outcome....PERFECT.
The first table auctioned went for $60....and I kept track of each and every table after....A total of 35 tables being auctioned. As we got closer and closer to my table's number (31) being called and displayed on the big screens, I could feel myself grabbing my program tighter and tighter.
'Just ONE person bid on this table, please.' It was all my heart was thumping out....The tables were ranging all over the place, from $60, most in the $200s...then even a few up to $500.
All the sudden it was table #31's turn and my display came up on the big screen. My shoes were all the sudden pinching my toes, my fingers were white and my smile was plastered on so I'd be ready either way.
My table ended at $625 for the night and I could have cried with pure joy and exhaustion. It was the highest bid table and all I could think of after was "I'm SO hungry!!" What a rush....I'm so thankful to Andy for helping me make this project happen and that I can now have a baby in peace. :)
Jeff & Annette the owners of the grocery store were thrilled and the surprise award they received at the end of the night was pure icing on the cake.
"The Spirit of Watertown" award rightfully went to them for their community efforts and hometown spirit. What an amazing couple, they give so generously and love so deeply. We're proud to know them. Their standing ovation was well deserved.
What a beautiful memory!!!
